RWANDA

Located in East Africa, Rwanda is a small landlocked country, west of Tanzania. Its misty rolling mountains in the west give way to open savanna plains in the east. Volcanoes National Park, located in the Virunga Mountains, is home to a chain of volcanoes that stretches along Rwanda’s northwestern border. This national park was the base for Dian Fossey’s research, and remains an important habitat for endangered mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking is one of the most thrilling and moving wildlife experiences as you observe the interactions and behaviors of families of magnificent mountain gorillas. Rwanda’s unique and varied habitats are also an important home to over 700 species of birds! This country’s remarkable history, hospitable feel, unique wildlife experiences, and protected natural areas make it an amazing place to explore.
